JUST ABOUT A YEAR AGO, the Brazilian confectionery association (ABICAB) again allied its annual candy show with a national event for distributors of consumer goods, including paper products, beverages, food items and even cars.

The idea was to partner with the well-established ABAD distributors' event in the nation's capital, Brasilia, and the theory was sound. Unfortunately, and proving that show venues depend (like real estate) on location, location, location, Brasilia did not attract either the exhibitors or the visitors hoped for.
