Two weeks after coming out, admitting he had cheated on his wife of four years with a man, and announcing that he would resign effective November 15, New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey made his first public appearance, in Atlantic City. The politicians as well as the 300 union leaders and members in the room continued to clap for him even as the governor tried to speak. "Please," the 47-year-old said, trying to quiet the crowd. "I've only got 80 days left."
