HAMPTON ROADS
ACQUISITION: Gannett Co. agreed to buy newspaper group HomeTown Communications Network Inc. from the company's chairman and founder, Philip Power, for an undisclosed amount. HomeTown publishes the Daily Press & Argus in Livingston County, Mich., and 62 weekly and twice-weekly newspapers in Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. The groups have an overall circulation of more than 740,000. HomeTown also controls community phone directories, shopping guides and Web operations.
