FORT COLLINS -- Starting slowly was an Achilles' heel for the Fort Collins football team earlier this season, so the Lambkins decided to do something about it.
The Lambkins' coaching staff sped up the tempo of practices, going right into contact drills after a quick, pregame-like stretch session.
The ploy seems to be working.
In a Class 5A quarterfinal game against Thomas Jefferson on Friday night, the Lambkins parlayed two defensive stands to begin the game into two quick touchdowns, paving the way to a 40-22 win at French Field.
