Nov. 23--TOKYO -- Sanyo Electric Co. has turned a refrigerator joint venture in Thailand into a subsidiary as part of its efforts to streamline production in Southeast Asia, a Japanese economic daily reported Tuesday.
The Nihon Keizai Shimbun said Sanyo has boosted its stake in struggling Sanyo Universal Electric Public Co. from about 30 percent to 70 percent and plans to raise it to 90 percent by the end of this year.
