Nov. 23--Congress got through its major spending bill last week, and seven projects of interest to Clark County were approved for money.
The appropriations, ranging from a light-rail study to a new sewage-treatment plant for Battle Ground, provide $17.8 million in federal money for area projects. U.S. Sen. Patty Murray and U.S. Rep. Brian Baird, both Democrats, worked on passage of compromise bills and jointly announced the grants Monday.
One of the items, of particular interest to Baird, is $2 million for a statewide campaign against methamphetamine labs. Baird said the state has the highest number of meth labs in the ...
