First, after you write a fund-raising letter, wait a couple of days before editing it. Make yourself wait! You wait because you need to forget all the mental connections you were making between the various points in your letter as you wrote.

If you look at it while the writing process is still basically going on inside your head, you don't have much chance to see the gaps in logic that are almost always there in early drafts of any piece of persuasive writing.

If necessary, fool yourself a little and set an absolutely must-be-done copy due date a few days ahead of when you really need it done. Get the extra day or two any way you can, but get it--it's really important ...
