A longtime dog breeder near the town of Byers lost her home business and 32 of her 33 dogs after an
accidental fire early Monday destroyed the trailer where she kept the animals.
Rose Jennings, owner of Rose's Ark, a Colorado-licensed breeding operation for at least seven years, and her caretaker tried to save the dogs after the fire broke out about 12:50 a.m. Jennings was treated at Aurora South Hospital for smoke inhalation and later released, said Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson.
Jennings, 55, was staying with friends to recuperate, one of her employees said Monday.
