Verizon Wireless has signed deals with Warner Music and Sony BMG Music to provide content for its new Ringback Tones service. It's the first national wireless carrier in the US to offer a variety of ringback tones so someone calling a Verizon Wireless phone can hear a song snippet rather than the traditional "brrrriiiinnnnggg" while waiting for someone to answer the call.
The initial catalog of ringback tones consists of some 2,200 songs in 13 genres ranging from rap, hip-hop and pop/rock to soundtracks, oldies and holiday tunes. Users can opt to have a standard ringback tone for all callers or have different tones play for individual callers based on Caller ID, ...
