The following was submitted by Candace Maynard, manager of public relations for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
When the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra presents Tchaikovsky's beloved seasonal ballet, "The Nutcracker," with the North Carolina Dance Theatre, nearly 300 local dancers and vocalists will take the stage of the Mulroy Civic Center at Oncenter.
This holiday tradition, based on a tale by German storyteller E.T.A. Hoffman, tells the story of a toy nutcracker that comes magically to life, much to the delight of a young girl named Clara.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 2 to 5, with 2 p.m. matinees on Dec. 4 and 5.
