2004 DEC 1 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A recent report described genetic manipulation of cardiac Na[superscript]+/Ca[superscript]2+ exchange expression.
According to a study from the United States, "The Na[superscript]+/Ca[superscript]2+ exchanger (NCX) is the primary Ca[superscript]2+ extrusion mechanism in cardiomyocytes. To further investigate the role of NCX in excitation-contraction coupling and Ca[superscript]2+ homeostasis, we created murine models with altered expression levels of NCX."
