While Britons grapple with how European they want to be, the Internet is embracing the territory. The European Commission is preparing to unveil the new European domain name--.eu--which is expected to be made freely available late next year, and companies are already lining up to register.
Delays at the European Commission meant the expected signing of the contract to launch the new domain name has been repeatedly put off. EURid, the registry operator for the domain name, only signed a formal contract with the Commission last month.
