Future Growth Limits in Fort Lauderdale?
A coalition of Fort Lauderdale homeowners associations and environmentalists is pushing to strictly limit growth on the beach and barrier islands. The coalition calls itself the "Citizens Initiative Against Overdevelopment."
Supporters of the coalition said they intend to gather the roughly 10,000 signatures needed to force a development-limiting referendum in the city of Fort Lauderdale, possibly as early as March 2005.
