Mastry Engine Center has unveiled an exciting advance in marine propulsion: A single Yanmar diesel spinning twin propeller shafts. You're probably already wondering whether two transmissions would degrade performance because of compounded internal friction. To answer that question, I took a ride on a 26-foot Angler equipped with this revolutionary system. The boat accelerated well and topped out at 34 mph (3450 rpm). There was surprisingly little vibration, and the gears were quiet, soft and smooth. Long story short, I'm a convert.
