ATLANTA--Skins and texture are the excitement in small leather goods as stores look toward the fall and in-important holiday selling periods.
Some retailers will field bigger inventories of items such as wallets, key chains and travel kits because these categories are considered important gift items.
This year so far, small leather goods are proving to be a growth area in some Southeastern stores but flat in others.
A buyer at Stein Mart, the Jacksonville, Fla.-based discount chain, for example, said that 70 percent of its wallet sales are in the fall, and most of that at holiday. Stein Mart sees the category as a growth area. The company ...
