At the Workforce Innovations 2004 Conference held in August in San Antonio, Texas, the U.S. Department of Labor presented the first Recognition of Excellence Awards. The awards, which were presented by Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employment and Training Emily Stover DeRocco, recognize workforce investment system programs that have achieved outstanding success around the nation.
