Leland Harris believes there is a great deal to be proud of in Covington, Okla., population 550. Situated just seven miles south of one of the state's main east/west thoroughfares, Highway 412, Covington's rolling wheat fields that sit atop deep red-brown soil, seem to personify Oklahoman agriculture. A booming convenience store at the very heart of the town brings with it economic and other intrinsic value to this rural community.
However, Covington, like so many rural communities across America, has seen a forfeiture of its quintessential way of life--a way of life Leland Harris struggles to preserve with the help of Autry Technology Center.
