Therese of Lisieux (1873-1897), born Marie Francoise Therese Martin, also known as St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face, popularly named the Little Flower, doctor of the Church and patron of a score of causes ranging from AIDS victims to Spanish air crews, famously acclaimed by Pope Pius X as "the greatest saint of modern times," never hesitated to rush in where angels fear to tread.
