"Colored gemstones were usually the topic of dinner conversations when I was growing up," reminisces Raymond Hak. "My father was a gemstone dealer for 30 years, and I guess these stones just got into my system." As he got older, he knew that his destiny was tied to color, and in 1993, he and his brother Rodney founded Raico in Great Neck, New York. The company specializes in 18-karat and platinum designs, using primarily fine colored stones. Raymond is the creative director and designer, while Rodney takes care of sales.
