Since 1990, both inkjet and laser printer prices have fallen well below $1,000, spurring market analysts and vendors--and even some manufacturers--to hastily forecast the demise of the dot matrix printer. Nonetheless, the dot matrix printer continues to prove its durability in the marketplace as well as the desktop.
