HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today vetoed Senate Bill 492, which addresses the difficult issue of end-of-life care. The Governor received numerous letters from medical groups regarding the legislation that would allow for greater control for those with living wills or health-care powers of attorney, but could result in doing a tremendous disservice, and may even be harmful, to the overwhelming majority of Pennsylvanians who do not have formal advance directives. For this reason he vetoed the bill and sent the following veto message to the Legislature.
