Dec. 1--The fate of the state's four Samuel Slater Technology centers is still up in the air.
The centers are part of the Samuel Slater Technology Fund, a $3-million state program focused on jump-starting young technology companies in Rhode Island. In September, the board of directors overseeing The Slater Fund Inc. decided to analyze whether the four centers should be consolidated into one entity.
A three-person subcommittee was appointed to study the structural change, which would be significant, and report back to the full committee with a recommendation last month.
