Increasing levels of environment toxins probably contribute to the growing number of persons with developmental disabilities (DD), according to experts in both DD and environmental health.
A new report, Pollution, Toxic Chemicals and Mental Retardation: A National Summit, summarizes a first-of-its-kind summit held July 2003 in Racine, Wis. Among the presenters and participants were researchers, health care professionals and disability professionals from 33 organizations.
