Introduction
Researchers at the National Children's Bureau recently completed a study exploring health services and arrangements for transfer from paediatric to adult care for young people with diabetes in six areas of Britain. Young people and hospital staff were interviewed and the experiences of the young people as they make the transition, and the views of hospital staff, were highlighted. This paper focuses on the role of the DSN in caring for adolescents with diabetes from the points of view of nurses and of their young patients.
