Dec. 1--A new 29-mile long gas pipeline under Massachusetts Bay remains improperly buried in 21 locations, marring the seabed with open trenches and piles of dirt despite the developer's promise to fully bury the pipeline and return the seafloor close to its natural state.
The US Army Corps of Engineers has ordered the developer, Algonquin Gas Transmission Co., to fix eight of the sites because of concerns that any commercial ship's anchor could rupture the pipe.
