A key hearing in the legal battle between Daewoo Motor America dealers and General Motors will occur Dec. 17, when GM's motion to dismiss the dealers' case will be heard in U.S. District Court in Florida.
About 225 Daewoo dealers are seeking monetary damages against GM, GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co. and Suzuki Motor Corp. The lawsuit claims that GM sought to skirt Daewoo dealers when it and its partners bought the assets of bankrupt Daewoo Motor Co. in 2002.
The lawsuit gained momentum when GM and Suzuki brought to their North American dealers rebadged versions of vehicles built in Daewoo factories.
