The Red Sox are going to wait and see whether Jose Valentin is offered arbitration before deciding whether to intensify their pursuit of the veteran shortstop.
But according to Valentin's agent, David Elston, the team has already expressed sigfnificant interest.
"The Red Sox are one of four teams to show real interest in Jose," Elston said. "Some want him as an everyday shortstop, some as a third baseman, some as a second baseman, some as a `super' utility type player."
