Like the Kansas City Chiefs of 2003, the Vikings are testing the old NFL adage that playoff-caliber teams must stop the run to be successful down the stretch and in the playoffs.
The Chiefs pulled it off temporarily, winning the AFC West despite allowing an NFL-worst 5.2 yards per carry. Then along came the Indianapolis Colts, who ran for 142 yards, passed for 292 and never punted while sweeping aside the host Chiefs 38-31 in their playoff opener.
