Dec. 1--Only a small number of Seattle neighborhood, business and affordable-housing activists have criticized Mayor Greg Nickels' plan to reinvent Mercer Street as a two-way, tree-lined boulevard. But a new poll suggests much more opposition may exist.
In polling released yesterday by Elway Research, most Seattleites who responded oppose Nickels' proposal to spend upward of $150 million to make changes to Mercer Street that would not improve travel times in the South Lake Union area.
