Dec. 2--TOKYO -- Seino Transportation Co. and Hino Motors Ltd. said Thursday they have jointly developed a small truck equipped with upgraded safety devices including an air bag attached to the front bumper.
The 3-ton Hino Dutro truck has a sensor that reacts when a person bursts in front of the vehicle while in motion and inflates an air bag from within the bumper so as to prevent him or her from getting rolled under it, the partners said.
Among other safety features, the truck has wider fenders for the front wheels to protect pedestrians if they are hit.
