For the past three decades, the Society for New Music has commissioned dozens of pieces of music.
The pieces are still relatively young, so it makes sense for the group - devoted to contemporary classical music - to release a recording.
The result is "American Masters for the 21st Century."
The group celebrates with a party at 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble, Booksellers, 3454 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt.
The boxed set, with 58 compositions on five discs, is on the St. Paul-based Innova label. It costs $35.
