Participating in sports teaches you how to win. For most of us, the more important lesson from sports is that it teaches us what it feels like to lose and how to handle that feeling.

Many coaches, especially high school sports coaches, are fond of saying things like, "The lessons you learn on the field today will help you throughout the rest of your life."
