Brazil: Petrochemical companies announce investments.

The Brazilian petrochemical industry is advancing investments to boost production thanks to the recovery of the Brazilian economy. The Brazilian GDP grew by 6.1% in the Q3 2004 (July-Sep) when compared to same period in 2003. Petroquisa (Petrobras Quimica), Braskem, Suzano Petroquimica and Petroflex already announced measures to quickly meet the demand of the domestic market. Braskem, largest petrochemical company of Latin America, intends to accelerate proejcts. The company predicts investments of R$600mil for 2005 - twice the amount to be disbursed in the whole of 2004.
