Dec. 8--As many as 4 million doses of the flu shot will be imported from Germany to alleviate the vaccine shortage, regulators said yesterday, but people getting them will have to sign forms accepting the unlicensed vaccine's health risks.
GlaxoSmithKline, maker of the Fluarix vaccine, will begin shipping 1.2 million doses immediately, with another 2.8 million doses in weeks to come, departing federal health czar Tommy Thompson said. "It will allow us to get more vaccine into the hands of those who need it most," he said.
