SEOUL, Dec. 9 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co., the world's No. 2 semiconductor manufacturer, said Thursday it has developed the world's fastest memory chip with a wide range of graphics applications.

Samsung Electronics said it produced samples of a 512-megabyte double data rate (DDR) 3 dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chip that it claims is the fastest available in the same class of chips.

The new chip can process data at a speed of 1.6-gigabits per second, the company said in a statement. ...
