Dec. 10--Although holiday parties continue to drive large numbers of bookings at convention facilities, some experts say they have lost part of their luster in the past few years.
"The number has gone down a lot in the last five to six years," said Mike Shuford, assistant director of the Chattanooga Convention Center. "In the '90s, everybody was booming. They were doing more elaborate things than they're doing now."
One caterer attributes the downsizing of holiday business parties to hard economic times.
