At a private club on Michigan Avenue, Katherine Stoughton is swirling, sniffing and meditating over the raw tannins in the latest cabernet sauvignon from Diamond Creek Vineyards in Napa Valley. So are about 100 fellow connoisseurs, oblivious to nearby street traffic.
The Diamond Creek is $175 a bottle-a tidy sum for Ms. Stoughton, an employment counselor and North Side resident-but she is undeterred. "It's a really nice, lush mouthfeel,'' she concludes, taking notes and snapping photos. She's become so devoted that she started her own Web site, www.greatwinefinds.com.
