BRIGADIER GENERAL WILLIAM A. MATHENY

Brigadier General William Albert Matheny, a native of Carrington, N.D., entered the Army Air Corps as a flying cadet in February 1928, two years after his graduation from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., with a degree in electrical engineering.

He was awarded the William H. Cheney award in 1929 following his graduation from pilot training and commissioning as a second lieutenant in the Air Corps.
