Dec. 11--University Community Hospital Inc. has been denied approval by the state for the second time to build a $17.2 million long-term-care hospital in east Pasco County.
The Agency for Health Care Administration determined that the three existing long-term-care hospitals in the Tampa Bay area could meet the existing demand.
The agency regulates the construction of health care facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes.
Long-term-care hospitals are designed for patients who do not need to be in an intensive care unit but require more care than that ...
