By the time you read this, I expect to be in Ushuaia, Argentina, at the bottom tip of South America, ready to board a ship heading for Antarctica.
So why should I, a senior citizen, suddenly decide to go there? One reason: Antarctica is the only continent I've not visited. I've traveled the other six, including such extremes as Hammerfest, Norway, the northernmost city on the planet. Now I'll add Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city, even below Tierra del Fuego, to my conquests.
