Dec. 13--Christmas shopping can be discouraging for rookies.
For those who weren't born to shop, hitting the stores during the busiest retail season is confusing, tiring and at best, tedious.
For those born before 1980, and therefore not born to shop online, the perils could be much worse. Virtual crooks are taking advantage of the season and hunting for just the right Internet greenhorn to rip off.
About 40 percent of Americans are expected to shop online this year, according to the Business Software Alliance.
