Dec. 15--SANTA FE, N.M. -- A task force created by Gov. Bill Richardson to find ways to provide health insurance to more New Mexicans has proposed increasing taxes on alcohol and chewing tobacco among a slew of recommendations in a report delivered to the governor Tuesday.
Richardson said that while he has not endorsed the recommendations of the Insure New Mexico Council, he does appreciate the need to increase the number of New Mexicans who are covered by health insurance.
