Trainers back top jockey ahead of his appeal against Christmas ban TRAINERS rallied round Timmy Murphy last night as the under- fire jockey announced he would appeal against a seven-day ban for hurling his whip at Semi Precious after the horse fell at Plumpton on Monday.
The support came on the day it was revealed that the Jockey Club will also hold a disciplinary hearing next month over a weighing room altercation between the Irish rider and stewards' secretary Chris Rutter at Fontwell on November 5.
If the Jockey Club dismiss Murphy's appeal, scheduled for tomorrow, Martin Pipe's principal rider will be out of action ...
