John Griffith
The funeral will be held Dec. 13 for John Thomas Griffith of Eugene, who died Dec. 3 of age-related causes. He was 85.
He was born Dec. 27, 1918, in Luray, Va., to Pete and Cora Fox Griffith. He married Viola Atkins on Dec. 25, 1943, in Eugene. She died in September 2002.
Griffith moved to Eugene in the 1940s. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 in the European Theater, in France and Rhineland, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded several medals.
He had been a restaurant owner and a dairy farmer. He enjoyed cooking, board games, practical jokes, animals and travel.
