2004 DEC 21 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Zinc deficiency increases bone tissue damage in ovariectomized rats, and zinc supplementation prevents it, investigators in Turkey report.
A.K. Baltaci and colleagues, Selcuk University, studied "how zinc deficiency and zinc application affect lipid peroxidation in bone tissue of ovariectomized rats."
One group of 10 Sprague-Dawley rats (Group 1) served as controls and were fed a normal diet. Another group of 10 (Group 2) had their ovaries removed and then were fed a normal diet.
