2004 DEC 21 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Asbestos victims in Sydney, Australia, won a reprieve when a court postponed a decision on whether to appoint a liquidator for a compensation foundation established by building products giant James Hardie.

The New South Wales state Supreme Court adjourned until January 31 a decision on appointing a liquidator, who could potentially cut payments to some victims to make the funds last longer, after the foundation received an offer of 88 million Australian dollars (US$69 million; EUR 52 million) from a former James Hardie subsidiary.
