Ringo, a 300-pound Bengal tiger, and Bowden, an African serval, delighted animal lovers in Wauconda on Saturday as they did their part to help fellow exotic cats.
Ringo and Bowden were visiting the Wauconda Moose Lodge from the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Ark., which cares for abandoned, abused and neglected tigers, lions, leopards, cougars and other exotic cats. They were in Wauconda for a fund- raiser for the refuge.
As Amy Schacht of Kankakee patted Ringo's head and scratched under his neck, he made a sound similar to purring, called chuffing.
