BELARUS TO TREAT FOREIGN, DOMESTIC INVESTORS ON COMMON TAX FOOTING - ECONOMY MINISTER

Starting January 1 2005, the common tax footing will be introduced for companies with foreign capital, depriving the latter of their tax preferences. Belarus' Economy Minister Nikolai Zaichenko released the news December 17.

"Since early this year domestic and foreign investors will be treated on the same tax footing," he said.

Zaichenko reminded, starting next year, foreign investors doing their business in Belarus will be stripped of most tax privileges they have been enjoying so far.
