Dec. 17--MISSION, Texas -- Randy Emmitt's stroll through the World Birding Center in Mission turned interesting when he glimpsed a butterfly species not seen in the United States in more than a 100 years.

"It's absolutely gorgeous," said Emmitt, a North Carolina photographer, about the thick-tipped greta at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park. "You can see through it. It becomes transparent when it flies in the shade."
