STRANGE but true: in our quest to seek vibrantcoloured plants for our winter gardens, we often overlook the most majestic candidates.
There is one group of plants that is capable of providing clusters of brightly coloured flowers on upright stems, along with the most succulent of fruits. But I wonder how many of us will select them as part of our winter planting regime.
Currants. Now, I know what you're thinking.
The ornamental, as opposed to edible variety of this plant was given a rather bad name in the Seventies, when you might have witnessed (and might have even grown) the cerise-pink flowering, leggy Ribes ...
